what i wore: tie dye for fall

I love this dress. It's a big, sac of (very shortened and altered) vintage tie-dye and may just be one of the most unflattering things I own -- especially when not belted -- but look at the print! It looks like a galaxy or outer space. I just know that its previous owner probably spent the majority of its wearing time tripping balls. Come on, it was the sixties! I think, at least.

Vintage dress, BB Dakota jacket, Motif 56 belt, Aldo boots, Topshop socks & Marc by Marc Jacobs sunnies.

I wore this outfit yesterday, when I also happened to attend local designer Malene Grotrian's SS11 showcase. I should have brought my new camera to photog the show but sadly I know the harm a couple glasses of wine could potentially do to my new pride and joy.

I also didn't realize how much my hair has grown out until I saw these pictures! Yes, those are roots... but lets just call it ombre. Thank you, Drew Barrymore. I'm counting the minutes until my hair appointment with the one and the only, Haute Bitch.

ps. GIVEAWAY. Only a few days left. Enter here!

  7. Love the dress, I have a few vintage pieces that really aren't amazingly tailored but the best for cool prints, yours looks great belted though! And yes...ombre...I've been saying mine is reverse ombre for years as I grow out a big blonde mistake I made a long time ago. Drew's got our backs.

  9. I'm liking the ombre... or that we no longer have to care about excessive roots and can call it "ombre"

And that dress is fantastic! The sock and boot combo is something I am going to have to try out tomorrow.

  10. Ah, that camera takes amazing photos! I love the colour of the dress, and the over-the-knee socks go perfectly with the boots. And, your 'ombre' hair looks great, even if it is unintentional!

  13. Augh I'm so sad I missed the Malene Grotrian show! Love her work. Stupid cold. >.<

You look fantastic in this outfit. Not many people can pull off over-the-knee white socks with boots, but they work on you.

  18. Well you styled up your sac of a dress quite nicely. I'm totally guilty of buying unflattering dresses with fantastic patterns. Sometimes I just can't resist! Nothing a good belt won't cure.

  30. So glad it's almost cold enough for knee socks! Weeee! This is a really cool print and I love the way you layered it. My highlights aren't too far from going this way too...can't decide if I'll just go with it or not.
