The name of the game is texture

and yes, I've said that before. This time though, it's different, because I'm wearing a lot of things that I'm very happy about. Like my lion necklace - I made it yesterday! It was the simplest DIY imaginable. All I did was add a jump ring to the lion's head and string through 3 different gold chains that previously belonged to other pendants. Nevertheless, I will continue to say that I made it as though I cast the lion's head myself. My skirt is from Forever 21 and is the first item I've ever bought there... in Canada! A Forever 21 has recently opened in Vancouver, and so it seems as though a new era of shopping is upon us. My tights are from Urban Outfitters, and my boots are from H&M.

My jacket is a vintage men's jacket, which makes it quite appropriate for this season's power shoulder trend. My advice for literally wearing menswear is to take in the sides so the fit isn't so boxy. A tailor will easily be able to do this and shouldn't charge very much. My t-shirt is Vince, a favourite of mine for luxurious basics. My belt and bag are both vintage.

There's something about mixing colours, patterns and textures that is so appealing to me. By the way, did you see the cool necklace I made?

  1. Wow! My jaw literally dropped when I saw this post. That necklace is SO cool, and your outfit is very well put together. I love the way you mixed the textures in such a way that it isn't overwhelming or tacky. This is definitely one of my favourite outfits of yours :) I hope to see more of your DIY creations and definitely more texture mixing.

  10. I love the necklace! I actually purchased a couple of brooches and pendants from Value Village determined to turn them into necklaces, but I've never managed to find good chains for them.
